AUDITION-BASED OFFERINGS
Auditions held at Center for the Arts, Albright College

Requirements for All Applicants:
Students must have been accepted as a music major by an
accredited school of post-secondary education (Haage
Scholarship is open to any senior accepted to a college or
university and who will be studying music privately. Haage
recipients do not have to be enrolled as a music major.)
If not specified, the student must attend school or
reside in Berks County
An audition of no more than 15 minutes
Adjudicators may stop the audition at any time
Students will audition in front of a panel representing
woodwinds, brass, piano, strings, organ and percussion.
Students must have at least two selections: one from the
Baroque or classical period, and one from the Romantic
period or the 20th/21st century
Vocalist must perform a piece in a foreign language
Memorization Requirements: pianists and vocalists must
memorize both selections. Instrumentalists and
Organists are not required to memorize either
selection.
Students must provide an accompanist (teachers may not
accompany their students)
Students must include a copy of their high school
transcripts and two letters of recommendation (one from a
music teacher) with their application.
Taped auditions are not accepted
The audition fee for students auditioning for merit-based
scholarships is $20. Each additional siblings fee is $10.
(Example, the total cost of two siblings auditioning would
be $30). Requests to waive the application fee due to
financial circumstances should be directed to our office at
(610) 376-3395.
The fee is applied once per year, regardless of the number
of awards for which the student auditions
Awards are paid directly to the college, university or
institution, and prorated over four or eight semesters,
depending on the amount of the award
RMF will not release the names of adjudicators. Award
amounts are not known until all auditions have been
completed.
Student will receive written evaluations from adjudicators
during the week following the audition. Comments should be
considered constructive and be shared with the students
music teacher.

L. Correnti Scholarship
Up to three awards are available annually
Student must reside or study with a teacher who resides in
Berks County
Students of woodwind, brass or percussion instruments only

Haage Scholarship
Students need not be enrolled as a music major
Student must be studying music privately while attending
college. Monies will be paid directly to the
university/school/music teacher for reimbursements of
lessons. Scholarship will not be applied to general tuition
cots.
One award is available annually
Open to any vocalist or instrumentalist who is actively
studying with an RMTA member in good standing whose
membership dues are paid in full for the current year, and
has maintained active membership for two consecutive years.
Students may not win both the Haage and Smith Scholarships
in the same year
Mildred Mogel Engle (Just for 2012!)
This scholarship is available only once every four
years
One award is available annually to students of voice,
piano, organ, or symphonic/band instruments

"Skip" Norcott III Scholarship
One award is available annually
Students of trombone, euphonium, baritone, Sousaphone or
tuba only
Ruth &
Spencer Overholser Orchestral String Scholarship
One award is available
annually
Students of violin, viola, cello or string bass only
Adjudicators may prefer students of
comparable skill level who demonstrate financial need. (Teachers
should mention financial need, if applicable, in their
recommendation.)
Elaine Bausher Post Scholarship
Up to three awards are available annually
Students of voice, piano, organ or symphonic/band
instruments
Kathryn I. Schiffner Music Scholarship
One award is available annually
Students of voice or piano
Helen
Smith Scholarship
One award is available annually
Open to any vocalist or instrumentalist who is actively
studying with an RMTA member in good standing whose
membership dues are paid in full for the current year, and
has maintained active membership for two consecutive years.
Students may not win both the Haage and Smith Scholarships
in the same year

B. Wicklein Scholarship
One award is available annually to a female student
