MILEAGE FOR MUSIC
New for 2006-2007!
In
partnership with Leesport Financial, the Reading Musical
Foundation has developed Mileage for Music, a program that
allows for gas stipends for rural students and others who
travel long distances to private music study. Other
transportation challenges will also be considered (bus
vouchers, etc.)
Students should fill out the attached application and return
to the foundation. RMF’s Scholarship Committee will review
applications and applicants will be chosen based upon length
of travel and financial need. Students will also need to
write a letter explaining why they take, or would like to
take, private music lessons. Music teachers will also need
to send a recommendation of the student’s musicianship,
apparent financial need and the likelihood that the child
will benefit from private music lessons.

The Reading Musical Foundation also understands that
travel costs are not the only expense inhibiting young
musicians. If your music student could benefit from private
music study, an instrument upgrade or summer music camp, and
has no means to afford these musical “extras,” please call
our offices at (610) 376-3395.
