SCHOOL MERIT AWARDS

2, 2008 (unless otherwise noted)

American Guild of
Organists Fund of RMF (Grades 7-11)
AWARDS:
One award
is given annually which provides the student with lessons
during the year up to a total outlay of $500, assistance in
finding an appropriate practice instrument (not limited to
pipe organs), membership in the AGO and a performance
arranged for Guild members.
ELIGIBLE STUDENTS:
Students who are in grades 7-11 and attend
Berks County or Schuylkill County Schools
Students with at least an intermediate piano proficiency
and less than one year of organ instruction
Students who can reach the pedalboard comfortably
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
An audition on the piano of no longer than 10
minutes is required
Memorization is not necessary
Students must have two selections, one from the Baroque
period
Students should be prepared to sight-read a hymn or chorale
on the piano

Scholarship (Grades 10-12)
AWARDS:
One or
more awards are given annually
ELIGIBLE
STUDENTS:
Students in grades 10-12 who attend Berks
Co. Schools AND reside in Berks Co.
Students of acoustic piano or
organ study
ADDITIONAL
INFORMATION:
An audition of no more than 5 minutes and memorization of at
least one selection of music
Students must present two different piano pieces of
contrasting style by two different composers
Lee G. & Marian M. Kachel Organ Fund (Adult Scholarship)

submit a letter of introduction along with a brief resume
AWARDS:
One award is given annually
ELIGIBLE STUDENTS:
Adult pianists who reside in Berks County
and are interested in learning the organ
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
An audition on the piano of no longer than 10
minutes
Applicants must have 2 selections, at least one of which is
from either the Baroque/ or the classical period |
