Thomas W. & Edna Garrett
Balkcom Scholarship (Grades 5-6)
AWARDS:
Six awards are given annually, three for woodwind and three
for brass
ELIGIBLE STUDENTS:
Students in grades 5-6 who attend Berks County Schools
or reside in Berks County
Students of piccolo, flute,
oboe, English horn, clarinet, saxophone, bassoon, trumpet,
French horn, trombone, euphonium (baritone), or tuba
ADDITIONAL
INFORMATION:
An audition of at least 5 minutes
Students must provide an accompanist
NOTE: Teachers may accompany students for this
scholarship
Work Family Woodwind Fund (Grades
7-9)

AWARDS:
As many as
three awards may be given annually
ELIGIBLE STUDENTS:
Students of piccolo, flute, oboe, English
horn, clarinet, saxophone or bassoon in grades 7-9 who
attend Berks County Schools and reside in
Berks County
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
An audition of at least 5 minutes
Students must provide an accompanist
NOTE: Teachers may not accompany students for
this award
The judges may require sight-reading
Work Family Woodwind Fund
(Grades 7-11) - Summer Camp
Need Sensitive Award
AWARDS:
At least two need-sensitive awards of $500 each are given
annually
ELIGIBLE STUDENTS:
Woodwind instrumentalists in grades 7-11,
attend Berks Co. Schools and reside in
Berks County
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
No audition is required, RMF’s Scholarship
Committee will determine recipients based upon applications
& recommendations.
Teachers should mention any financial need in their
recommendation
Camp program will feature any combination of
orchestra, symphonic or concert band, wind ensemble, jazz
ensemble and chamber music. Applicants to such programs
will be preferred over students who are enrolled in programs
that are devoted primarily to marching band instruction.
Deadline: May 2, 2008, decisions
are made by May 16, 2008

Webster Double Reed Scholarship (Grades 8-11)
AWARDS:
As many as
three awards may be given annually
ELIGIBLE STUDENTS:
Students of oboe, English horn or bassoon
in grades 8-11 who attend Berks County Schools
and reside in Berks County
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
An audition of at least 5 minutes
Students must provide an accompanist
NOTE: Teachers may not accompany students
for this award
The judges may require sight-reading
Scholarships may also be used for the purchase of
reed-making supplies and equipment or summer camps where the
participant performs primarily on a double reed instrument
David Bilger Woodwind
Scholarship (Grades 10-12)
